Who Dies Next? Here Are Three Likely Candidates

On Sunday night, the fourth season of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” wrapped up. The season was primarily based on the second half of “A Storm of Swords,” the third book in George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series.

The showrunners know how Martin will end the series, so they can write that ending should they outpace him. “Game of Thrones” has, for the past four years, premiered in late March or early April, so we’d expect that Seasons 5, 6 and 7 to begin in March or April of 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively. Of course, it’s possible that Martin will quicken his pace as HBO gains on him. But our estimate of a July release date for “The Winds of Winter” would mean his rate was 356 words per day, so he’d have to speed it up. It might be a difficult target to hit. I will be updating this post with production news and casting rumors fairly regularly. I hope to do updates every week or two when news is slow, but I will update the big casting rumors as they come in.

Arya Stark finally found freedom at the end of Season 4 of 'Game of Thrones'. After Brienne won a fight with the Hound, Arya walked away from both of them choosing to be alone and escape on a ship. Luckily, she had an iron coin to get a coveted cabin. Showrunners/executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss recently signed a contract that will keep them at the helm through the sixth season as well. It’s an almost unprecedented position to be in, whereas the source material is unfinished and an adaptation is steamrolling through the story. Not all of the Harry Potter books were finished by the time the first movie was out, but they were each released before their corresponding movie(s). It puts showrunners David Benioff and D.B. We were heartbroken for poor Dany when she had to lock two of her dragons away. She was so high at the beginning of Season 4, but has started to fall. And it looks like things are only going to get worse for her. Not only is she learning that being a ruler is not as easy as she thought, she has a bit of a dragon problem. One of her dragons, Drogon, is missing, and could cause countless issues. One man already brought her the charred skeleton of his dead daughter. But we haven't yet seen Daenerys take a ride with Drogon, which is one of the most famous scenes in Book 5. We can't wait to see how Weiss and Benioff shoot the masteful scene!

In the last episode of Season 3, Jon was badly injured while battling the Wildings. While he was resting and tending to his injuries, he was confronted by Ygritte. With an arrow ready to shoot Jon, he tries to talk to Ygritte out of it by letting her know that he still loves her. He also reminded that despite the fact that he still loves her, he remains loyal to the Watch. It was easy for Jon to let Ygritte know about his feelings. However, Ygritte was still angered by Jon’s betrayal and ended up shooting him three times with her bow as he flees from her, watching him go with tears in her eyes.
