Jon Snow Struggles, Daenerys Targaryen Worries About Drogon, And Arya Grow Up (SPOILERS)
Don't mess with the Children. After a much-too-short fourth season of Game of Thrones filled with a Purple Wedding , bloody battles and expeditions (below and beyond the Wall), the final tenth episode, which aired Sunday, June 15, may have been the most shocking of them all. Here, Us Weekly recaps the five biggest moments from Sunday's episode.
Similarly, it hasn’t yet been confirmed which city or region of Game of Thrones will be depicted in Osuna. There has been much speculation that it will be Sunspear, the capital of Dorne and home to House Martell. In the books, Dorne is portrayed as a Moorish/Al Andalus mixture of southern Spain and north Africa. The casting of Chilean actor Pedro Pascal as Oberyn Martell, also known as the Red Viper, shows that the producers of the TV series wish to maintain the aesthetic of the books.
Though this past season has seen the show diverge significantly from the novels, it’s really the fifth season that marks a significant turning point for Game of Thrones With so many storylines matching up with various markers in the novels, Benioff and Weiss have more freedom to put their mark on Westeros than they ever have before, which means that even fans who have read the books may soon have no idea what’s coming for their favorite characters. The choices that they make in Season 5 will determine how closely the show will hew to the book for its last few years, or whether they will throw out the novels altogether, and create a universe of their own.
Many previously speculated that the additional ‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 shooting location of Spain would double for the kingdom of Dorne , oft-mentioned within the series but never seen, and it seems the showrunners are no longer keeping confirmation under wraps. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly , David Benioff and Dan Weiss responded to questions of Dorne by saying, “There will be Dorne, and we’re excited about it. Who wouldn’t want to hang out in Dorne? They have admirable values and priorities.”
The dragons are back. The war is back. "Game of Thrones" is back. The third season has gotten off to a slow start, but the finale of last week's episode proved that fans are about to get what they've been waiting for. The episode closed with a powerful, confident Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) corralling her newly acquired slave army. She gained control of the warriors in exchange for one of her precious dragons that rebelled against its new owner, burning him to a crisp before returning to its true owner. Daenerys gained the respect of her new army and her colleagues with her cunning and brutality against the slave owners and his minions.
